ANOMALY: “a deviation from the common rule, type, arrangement, or form”
This said, “Super” Zab Judah is an anomaly in the sport of boxing.
Ok, I’m going to go ahead and say something that I have been wanting to get off of my chest for quite some time:
ZAB JUDAH is the most exciting boxer to watch – bar none.
In the early days of his career, I thought that nobody would ever beat him. He would trounce his opponents with flashing shots on their torso and head which were so hard to see that they seemed nearly impossible to defend against. Judah never seemed to grow tired in the ring and he had a killers instinct that wreaked of confidence.
On one hand, he is a tightly wound package of dynamite whose superior reflexes and lightening fast hands halted the careers of fighters before they could see what hit them. Accomplished fighters like Jaime Rangel, Allen Vester, Wayne Martel, Jose Armando Santa Cruz & Ubaldo Hernandez were disposed of within 3 rounds. Many of the KO’s were so brutal and stunning to his opponents psyche that they never fought again.
Yet, on the other hand we are forced to swallow the second half of the Judah – which makes him an anomaly.
This particular Zab Judah allowed his fight with CORY SPINKS, a bout in which he had full-control over in the beginning, slip through his hands in the second half of the fight. Less than two years later, the anomaly became more indented as he traveled back home to basically “give” a WIN to CARLOS BALDOMIR.
In BOTH cases it was astoundingly clear who the most talented fighter was throughout the fight. Judah’s SPEED & POWER had no rival, ever. Yet, anyone with a pulse in this sport understands that there is more to winning than finesse & strength alone.
Now, don’t get me wrong – SPINKS & BALDOMIR are far above average fighters.
But ZAB is Super.
Everyone knows it – and HE knows it.
A slew of wins amongst an array of B-rate fighters were leveled out with losses to MAYWEATHER, COTTO and CLOTTEY.
Hey, I don’t get it any more than the next guy.
In Judah’s case however, it is not always the strongest – fastest guy who emerges from the ring with a victory.
I don’t get it any more than you yet at the end of the day …. THAT is why ZAB JUDAH is fun to watch!
