Zab Judah won the vacant IBF junior welterweight championship with a seventh-round TKO of Kaizer Mabuza Saturday night in Newark.
Judah, 41-6, 28 KO’s, a former two-division champion, was down in the fourth round when his glove appeared to touch the canvas. However, the Brooklyn native who now has Pernell Whitaker in his corner and had Mike Tyson supporting him from ringside hurt Mabuza bad in the 7th round and the bout was halted.
Mabuza, 23-7-3, 14 KO’s suffered his first loss since October 2007.
