Polish boxing fans have become accustomed to watching fellow countrymen battle it out at Prudential Center in Newark NJ. On the November 6th, Zab “Super” Judah vs. Lucas Matthysse card, the enthusiastic Poles will once again have something to cheer about. Undefeated heavyweight Mariusz Wach, 22-0, 10 KO’s, of Krakow Poland, will take on Augusta, Georgia’s, Kevin Burnett, 13-4-1, 8 KO’s, in an 8 round bout sure to please all boxing fans.
Mariusz Wach was born on December 14, 1979. “Polish Giant” – as the fans call him – was born and raised in Krakow, Poland. He fell in love with boxing in 1990 and that’s when his amateur career began. Wach took part in 90 amateur fights and represented his country in numerous international tournaments.
His greatest achievements during that period were one bronze and two gold medals in the Individual Polish Championships, and silver in the European Union Championships (2004). He is also proud of participating in Summer Olympics.
Wach turned pro in April 2005 when he won a first round TKO, destroying his opponent during a tournament in Swiebodzice, Poland. After that successful fight boxing became his life. On June 23, 2006, Wach defeated Canadian boxer Arthur Cook and became Polish International Heavyweight Champion. A few months later, December 16, 2006, he TKO’d Zoltan Beres to win the TWBA heavyweight belt. On April 24, 2009, in Jaroslaw, Poland, fans watched as Wach blasted his American opponent, Julius Long, and successfully defended his TWBA title.
On July 17, 2010, after a layoff caused by an injury, Wach returned to the ring in Sport and Congress Center, Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Wach came back in great shape and thrilled his fans by scoring a 6th round KO over Christian Hammer.
Wach was also a sparing partner for several well-known boxers, including Samuel Peter. This past September Wach moved to the United States. He joined the Global Boxing Gym in North Bergen, New Jersey. He is trained by Piotr Wilczewski.

Judah vs. Matthysse, a twelve round NABO junior welterweight championship bout, is part of an exciting night of boxing at Newark’s Prudential Center on Saturday, November 6.
