TOMASZ ADAMEK; “The Giant Killer”

By: Ricky Ray Taylor

TOMASZ ADAMEK (41-1 {27};
6’1, 217) has done a splendid job at busting up sub-par heavy-weights. Since the doctor stepped in to rescue cruiser-weight BOBBY GUNN from a licking last July (round 4), ADAMEK added upwards of 60 (that’s SIXTY) pounds to his next 3 victims.

He won the IBF International Heavyweight Title next by busting up a tired Andrew Golata (256 1/2); then he out-maneuvered a slick Jason Estrada (237); before claiming the WBO Title at the hands of the big bully Chris Arreola (250 1/2).

Nobody can question the guys heart. Adamek has been the smaller guy in all 3 of his heavyweight matchups yet, each fight has been entirely lopsided in his favor.

The fact that he challenged & then whipped undefeated CHRIS ARREOLA in Arreola’s home-state provides even more credence to the fact that the guy is a warrior.

ADAMEKS rock hard chin has never been suspect even though he’s steadily moved up in weight throughout his career (in his first fight he weighed 170lbs).

Enter, MICHAEL GRANT (46-3{34}); standing 6’7 and weighing 260+ .

Grant is on an 8 fight win streak,
6 of which were won by KO. His last fight was a quick first round KO in May vs solid “B” fighter Kevin Burnett. The only problem with this particular string of victories is that they date back to February of ’04.

Although Michael Grant has most likely distanced himself from his years of being on the fringe of contention for something great,
he is still quite big. With 34 KO’s to his credit, Grant emboldens the “punchers chance” advantage over the much smaller Polish fighter.
In fact, he screams it.

Grant had better shout it loud and with every punch- because – a KO may be the only way he can get the nod over the “Giant Killer”.
