Knockout Night in Philly

By: Jeff Miller at Ringside

It was an exciting night in South Philadelphia last night, as Top Rank, Inc., along with Peltz Boxing, and Joe Hand Promotions put together an action packed night of boxing.

The main event was a quick one, featuring two undefeated flyweights, as Raul Martinez 24-0 (14 KOs) of San Antonio, TX, stopped Victor Proa 25-1 (19 KOs), of Mexico, capturing the vacant NABF Flyweight Title. Right from the opening bell, Martinez wasted no time chasing Proa down, landing a huge overhand right that sent him backwards, followed by about ten unanswered bombs, forcing referee Gary Rosato to stop the action. Official time was 1:08 of the first round.

In the evenings co-feature, Alexis Camacho 17-1 (16 KOs) of Austin, TX, scored a spectacular one-punch TKO over Edvan Barros 9-6 (7 KOs) of Brazil, in their scheduled 10 round welterweight match up. After an exciting first round, Camacho landed a perfect left uppercut that sent Barros to the canvas. Barros then stood up, beating the 10 count as referee Blair Talmadge ordered him to step forward. He seemed to be a bit stunned, as Talmadge immediately stopped the fight. Official time was :52 seconds of round two.
