LOOK FOR A WEEKEND OF CLOSE, WELL CONTESTED FIGHTS

By: Jim Amato

There’s a lot of boxing this weekend and it should be rather entertaining. The four main bouts are, on paper very competitive to say the least. It is very difficult to pick a winner in these match ups but here goes…

I like Casamayor over Marquez. I think Joel will just be a little too strong and a little to quick.

I believe Forrest under estimated Mora the first time. A lot of us did. This time Vernon will be ready but will Father Time cut him a break ? I can’t believe that Mora has improved that much since his Contender days. Did he just catch Vernon on an “off” night? I think if Vernon has one more good fight left in him he should turn the tables on Sergio.

With Guzman not making weight Nate Cambell’s titles are safe but pride will drive Nate. Guzman is a dangerous opponent but I believe Nate’s strength and experience will see him through a rugged battle.

The hardest one for me to pick was Tim Bradley against Edner Cherry. If ever a fighter has paid his dues, it’s Cherry. Still Bradley is a sharp boxer / puncher who is coming in to his own. Very tough fight but I like Cherry on a split decision.

There is a very good chance that all four of these bouts will go the advertised distance. It should be interesting. ENJOY !
