Former “Contender” participant and John Duddy challenger Anthony Bonsante was just stopped in the first round on ESPN2 up in Montreal.
Bonsante, who looked a little overweight, took a left hand to his right ear and fell to the canvas, flat on his back, against Adonis Stevenson. Bonsante looked like he was out cold, but at the count of six, he jumped up. The referee waved him off, and Bonsante vehemently protested, and he could be heard sreaming “I have until eight” to get up.
Bonsante’s protests were to no avail, and the bout was scored a TKO.
