CHICAGO, IL (June 3, 2008) IBF Cruiserweight #1 Mandatory Tomasz Adamek met with the media in Chicago today to announce his ESPN2 televised showdown with veteran brawler Gary Gomez set for Friday, July 11th at the Aragon Ballroom.

Chicago was the location of two of Adamek’s biggest wins as he battled Paul Briggs in 2005 and 2006 in legendary bouts, each of which were “Fight of the Year” candidates. Adamek won the vacant WBC light heavyweight title by beating Briggs on May 21, 2005 and successfully defended it in the rematch with him on October 7, 2006.

Said Adamek, “I’m thrilled to be back in Chicago. The fans here were very supportive during my fights with Paul Briggs. I feel much stronger at cruiserweight and look forward to facing Gary Gomez on Friday, July 11th at the Aragon Ballroom.”

The co-main event was also announced today as Chicago based Polish prospect Andrzej Fonfara will battle Derrick “Superman” Findley of Gary, IL in an eight round middleweight bout.
