AP: Berbick’s Nephew one of two Guilty in Murdering the Ex-Champ

ESPN.com posted an AP story out of Kingston, Jamaica today, regarding the October 2006 murder of former heavyweight champion Trevor Berbick. According to the article, the four week trial has concluded, and the guilty parties are 21 year-old Harold Berbick (Trevor’s nephew) and 19-year-old Kenton Gordon. Harold had been involved in a land dispute with the former champ.

Trevor Berbick was 54 years-old, and he had been living back in Jamaica since 2002. He had previously been deported from the U.S. He is most known for being the last man to fight Muhammad Ali as well as the champ who relinquished the title to Mike Tyson, thus making Tyson the youngest heavyweight belt holder.
