Last night at the New Alhambra in South Philadelphia, fans were able to see possibly the next great welterweight as Mike Jones made it twelve in a row (all by knockout) scoring a third round TKO over proven veteran Pito Cardona.
When the bell rang for the main event, Cardona went right after Jones trying to make a statement. However, Jones was able to adjust quickly using his height and reach to keep Cardona under control, firing his lightening fast jabs. Round two Jones continued to use his incredible footwork and crisp punching, however, Pito pressed forward, trying to get something going, showing that he was not at all intimidated by the hard-hitting Jones.
Round three, Jones caught Cardona with a beautiful left hook that sent Pito back a few steps. That is when Jones went into attack mode, pinning Cardona into the ropes, landing a nasty barrage of left hooks and right uppercuts, landing Pito in serious trouble. Referee Gary Rosato stepped in and pulled the plug at 1:34. With the win, the North Philly powerhouse moved to 12-0 (12 KOs), as Cardona slips to a very respective 36-8 (28 KOs).
