I had a chance to speak with the “Brick City Bullet” ALEX PEREZ last night at the BIRCHWOOD BOXING event in New Jersey. Alex was the hard hitting local welterweight prospect who’s quick dismantling in the first round erupted the crowd into a shout-filled frenzy. So far his undefeated record of 8-0 is near perfect with a dazzling six knockouts.
WHAT KIND OF AMATEUR EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE? — “I was 43-3 as an amateur and by 2005 was ready to turn pro and make a name for myself.”
WHAT’S YOUR STORY? — “I’m a fighter both in and out of the ring. A while back I got SHOT which made me reconsider a few things about the way I was living and made me realize that I needed to start living right. So now I’m focused and doing everything I can everyday, all day long to become a better fighter IN the ring – not out of it.”
AT THE END OF THE DAY WHO or WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO BE A BETTER FIGHTER? — “My son, Alex Jr. (calls his son to come over & puts his arm around him) is my inspiration. He is what I’m fighting for and he is what keeps me in the gym everyday making me a Champion.”
