Returns Boxing to Boston
Brockton, Massachusetts – “Night of the Rising Stars,” promoted by Cappiello Promotions, marks the return of professional boxing to Boston for the first time since December, 2006. The exciting six-bout card, to be held Saturday, June 23 at The Roxy, will feature some of the areas most promising young fighters. “This is going to be a great night of boxing,” promoter Rich Cappiello exclaimed. “Fight fans are going to have the opportunity to watch some great, young talent, at an absolutely tremendous venue. The Roxy is one of the best places in the world to take in a night of Boxing. It’s very much like the legendary Blue Horizon in Philadelphia!”
“Night of the Rising Stars” will be headlined by undefeated cruiserweight fan-favorite Chris McInerney (8-0-1, 5 Kos), who takes on Boston Police Officer, Tyrone Smith (5-4-1, 2 Kos) in an eight-round intra-state match-up. In 2005, McInerney fought to a 4-round draw with Ohio’s Anterio Vines, in one of the most exciting undercard bouts in recent history. The action-packed bout, which also took place at The Roxy, earned Fight of the Year honors from ESPN2.
In supporting undercard attractions Guatemalan-born Castulo Gonzalez (9-2, 3 Kos) squares off against Hartford’s Angel Gonzalez (1-1) in a six-round featherweight affair, Philadelphia power-puncher Rasheem “Untouchable” Brown (17-3, 14 Kos) returns to the ring for the first time in over a year to take on Newport, Virginia’s Tony Pope (15-13-1, 11 Kos) in six-round super-middleweight action, undefeated Weymouth (MA) junior welterweight prospect “Nasty” Nick Morganelli (6-0, 3 Kos) makes his anticipated return to the ring against an opponent to be named soon, 18 year-old flyweight prospect Icender Beauchamp (1-0) battles New Haven, Connecticut’s Edwin Carmona in a four-round attraction, and undefeated Bostonian Anthony LaMonica (3-0, 2 Kos) faces Jeff “The Hawk” Farmer (1-6) in a junior welterweight bout slated for four-rounds. All bouts and fighters are subject to change.
