PETER “KID CHOCOLATE” QUILLIN: TOUGH FIGHTER WITH A SWEET TOUCH

Peter Quillin has a dynamic persona that matches his knockout power. The undefeated fighter known as “Kid Chocolate” is intriguing both inside the ring and out.

“Zoologist or veterinarian,” Chocolate answers the question of what he might be doing after his boxing career is complete, even though that’s a long way away. You are just as apt to find him strolling the Bronx Zoo to take a look at the animals as you might find him at the Crunch Gym on West 38th Street training for his next fight.

He virtually has a mini zoo at home: his pets include a cat named Maythefifth; an African Grey Parrot dubbed Frankie Boy; a ball python snake called Miami; and a long nosed leopard lizard named Superman.

Quillin loves to “feed, take care of and nurture the animals,” and also watches out for less fortunate youngsters through his Kid Chocolate Foundation, founded by Quillin and Goodwill Industries. Kid Chocolate trains a group of kids every Tuesday and Thursday at the gym, looking to give them something very special this year through the Chocolate Foundation.

Peter was dubbed “Kid Chocolate” by a friend because he is of Cuban ancestry, just like the original fighter Kid Chocolate. “Now, I keep his memory alive by taking on the same name,” he says.

Quillin lives up to the name, literally, by tossing chocolate to the fight crowds after his stirring victories. “Everybody loves it, not just the kids and ladies, but everyone in the crowd. It helps them remember me. They say: ‘I love that guy who throws the chocolate.'”

He is a chocolate lover himself. His previous favorite was Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but his new favorites are Snickers with Almonds and a candy bar called Whatchamacallits.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Chocolate now fights out of the Bronx, NY. Quillin is managed by Brighton Production’s John Seip and trained by Colin Morgan. Quillin recently signed a promotional agreement with Gotham Boxing and DRL Promotions.

The middleweight has a record of 8-0 with five knockouts, and will see action once again on Thursday night, January 11, on the Winter Heat extravaganza headlined by Yory Boy Campas at Roseland Ballroom. He is part Dr. Doolittle, part Willy Wonka, part St. Francis of Assisi, and ALL fighter. Undefeated Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin, a name to be heard from in boxing.
