Today I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Gotham Boxing DRL Press Conference. Gotham Boxing is owned by Cedric Kushner. DRL is owned by Dan Wise, Luis Decubias and the legendary Roberto Duran. They announced their partnership and the starting of a monthly fight series. John Duddy, who was scheduled to fight on Jan 11th at the Roseland Ballroom on the Gotham/DRL show announced he will not be fighting due to an eye injury.

Joel Cassamayor was also awarded his Ring Magazine Lightweight World Championship. In attendance as well was Iran Barkley, Shannon Briggs, and top female fighter Ijeoma Egbunine. I was able to get a few questions answered during this press conference. I would also like to thank Luis Decubias for translating for Roberto Duran and Joel Cassamayor,

Matt Yanofsky: John, you just beat the tough and highly regarded Yory Boy Campos. How long do you think it will be before you are ready to challenge for a world title

John Duddy: That is up to my team but I only want to take tough fights. My next fight will be even more of a step up in competition

Matt Yanofsky: Joel, you said you wanted to fight Barrera but it appears he will be fighting Pacquaio
